Mexico Olympics 1968 Fact

                                                               The picture here depict an important landmark in the history osf the CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT IN THE UNITED STATES. This represent the medal ceremony of the 200 metres race in the 1968 Mexico olympics. The two men standing with clenched fist upraised and heads bowed, while the American national anthem was played are the Us athletes. Tommie Smith and John Carlos. They are african americans, they had won the gold and bronze medal respectively. They recieved their medal wearing black shoes and socks to represent Black povery which was prevailing in that era. Caste inequality in India

Caste is an important source of economic inequality because it regulates access to various kinds of resources. For example in the past the so called untouchables were denied the right to wn land and while the so called Twice born were enjoyed predominant status in the society like they were given ultimate rights to dominate the lower caste and decide their day to day affairs.        Although this kind of explicit formalised inequality based on caste is outlawed, the effect of centuries of accumulated advantages and disadvantages continued to be felt till now. Moreover new kinds of inequalities have also developed in contemporary india. Thw relationship between caste and economic status had dramatically changed now. Today, it is possible to see very rich and very poor in each and every caste, whether low or high. This was not true twenty or thirty years ago in india.
